Outstanding Miniature Oil Paintings in Pocket-Sized Mint Tins by Remington
Who would have imagined that a simple little empty metal box (Pocket-Sized Mint Tin) could become a true work of art? And yet this is what artist Remington Robinson does brilliantly, creating magnificent miniature watercolors inside boxes of Altoids mints.
Originally, the creative based in Ohio in the United States specialized in photorealism, an artistic movement dating back to the 70s which makes it possible to reproduce in the most detailed way possible, with acrylic or oil paintings, photographs, landscapes, and much more.
In 2017, he thinks of embarking on an even more original project and is inspired by a street artist who makes small oil paintings in metal cases. The painter lets himself be tempted by the experiment which requires less material and above all to spend less time on the same work.
Equipped with his little metal boxes, he paints according to his desires the places he visits, and the inspiration they provide him. Inside each box, he has slipped a small wooden panel into the lid to create his works while the container serves as his paint palette.
After each creation, which takes him between 30 minutes and 6 hours, he immortalizes it in front of the original version. To date, he is said to have already made more than 700 boxes depicting landscapes from countries around the world such as Canada, Mexico, Peru, France, Switzerland, and even Hawaii.
