Miss Ukraine Unveils an Incredible Warrior Costume for Miss Universe 2023

On February 20, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared war on Ukraine by sending his armed forces to the territory. For 10 months, the Russian-Ukrainian conflict has continued, intensifying the strikes and causing considerable repercussions for the entire international community.

During the year, many artists did not fail to show their support for Ukraine by producing committed works that quickly went around the world. More recently, it was Miss Ukraine who honored her country by unveiling the costume she would wear during the Miss Universe 2023 competition which will take place on January 14 in New Orleans in the United States.

Each year, the competition brings together the various Misses elected in all the countries of the world to elect the most beautiful woman in the universe. They compete by carrying out several parades, one of which consists of representing their nation in a costume. Viktoria Apanasenko, who was elected Miss Ukraine in 2022, unveiled her costume called “Warrior of Light” which was imagined from scratch by Ukrainian designer Lesia Patoka.

It took the designer four months to fully design the costume, sometimes without electricity and lit only with candles. It thus consists of a long white dress with puffy sleeves under which the Miss wears a golden jumpsuit similar to armor, two huge wings in the back in the colors of Ukraine while the Miss holds a sword in her hands.

In a way, the founder of Patoka Studio wanted to echo the determination of the Ukrainians to repel the invaders while slipping in references to the tragedy dating from the 6th century BC. JC. It is a poetic and creative way to pay tribute to the strength and tenacity of the Ukrainian people in these times of war.
