Artist Creates Impressive 3D Buildings From A Single Sheet Of Paper

As the novelist Paulo Coelho so aptly puts it, “The simple things are the most extraordinary, and only scholars manage to see them”. A quote that takes on its full meaning when one observes the three-dimensional architectural creations of the Danish artist Peter Callesen, conceived solely from… a single sheet of paper.

This creative endowed with patience no doubt as great as his talent achieves a real work of craftsmanship with a single element at his disposal: a white sheet, most often in A4 format. From this common raw material, he gives life to all kinds of buildings including castles, ancient ruins, or oriental temples.

To do this, he meticulously cuts each sheet with a scalpel and folds the cut parts with a dental spatula. In order to give height to his creations and keep them in balance, he reinforces them with pieces of wood and glue giving them this 3D aspect.

We let you admire the striking paper monuments of Peter Callesen, also to be found on his Instagram account and on his website. And in an equally fascinating universe, we invite you to have a look at the Awesome Origami Artwork of Hiroaki Kobayashi: look, it’s really impressive.
