Some creative do not hesitate to take up the most arduous challenges for their artistic projects. So after making one illustration per day for a year in 2018, the Indian artists Nayan Shrimali and Vaishali Chudasama have again done it again, this time creating 1000 miniature paper animals for 1000 days or one per day.

Having both studied Arts and Design, it was as miniature model makers that they met. Sharing a strong interest in wildlife, it wasn’t long before they collaborated together and started their own design studio, called NV Illustration.

Their series of illustrations called “1000 Days of Miniature Art” aims to raise awareness of wildlife and demonstrate the importance of protecting our ecosystem. They then took on the challenge of making one miniature diorama a day using scissors, paper, and watercolor paint.

For each of their creations, they make a sketch of the animal they want to represent. They then cut out several layers of paper to make the furs, feathers, or coats of the various species before coloring them with watercolors.

Due to their complexity and precision, each miniature diorama can take between 4 and 6 hours of work. Indeed, the animals generally measure between 1.5 and 5 centimeters and they are often staged in the air or posed on a set to accentuate this adorably extraordinary side.
