Vanessa McKeown Diverts Food and Snacks For Unusual Artistic Compositions
The tug between greed, artistic appeal, and above all incredulity, the unusual compositions of artist Vanessa McKeown make us lose our minds. And for good reason, she takes pleasure in diverting all kinds of food and snacks into banal and inappropriate objects for a very astonishing result.
The idea of these diversions came to her in 2015 when she returned with a shopping bag. Seeing all her products inside, she imagined mixing them together to create new unique objects of their kind, starting with a bunch of tomatoes and balloons which she will baptize “Fruloon” and which will become her trademark.
A graduate of the University of Art and Design in London, Vanessa is full of imagination and tries all kinds of mixtures as improbable as they are fun. We thus find spaghetti coming out of a bronze tap, specious becoming skateboards, flip-flops, or even donuts mimicking a roll of toilet paper.
In a way, the photographer seeks to question us about our relationship with food and our consumption by not hesitating to juxtapose healthy foods and cheat meals.
We let you discover below the astonishing achievements of Vanessa McKeown, to also find on her website and on her Instagram account already followed by more than 117,000 subscribers. And in a very similar universe, we invite you to (re) see the ingenious image fusions of the artist Edgar ArtiS.
