The Magnificent Photos Awarded By the European Wildlife Photographer 2021

Every year since 1971, the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year rewards the most beautiful photographs highlighting the beauty and the diversity of the wild and aquatic life on the planet. And it was after several months of waiting that the winners were finally announced by the Society of German Nature Photographers (GTD), which is organizing the competition.

For the latter 50th edition, it was again over 19 000 photographs in 8 categories that were sent by 1,000 professional photographers and amateurs from 36 countries.

During this 2021 edition, the 1st prize was awarded to the Spanish photojournalist and author Angel Fitor for his photo “The ballet of jellyfish” immortalized in the largest saltwater lagoon in Europe called Mar Menor in Spain. Surprising as it may sound, the photographer said there were actually only two jellyfish in the lagoon and he used multiple flash triggers to give the illusion of a swarm.

We let you discover below the winning photographs and highly recommended the 50th edition of the European Wildlife Photographer of the Year. To find out more, do not hesitate to consult the official website of the competition.

And to stay within the theme, we invite you to (re) discover the 30 winning photos of Wildlife Photographer 2021: the prestigious competition organized by the Museum of Natural History in London.
