Studson Studio Turns Garbage Into Incredible Miniatures Inspired By Studio Ghibli

In recent years, awareness has been raised about good waste recycling practices. And when the latter has a second life in miniature reproductions of the Ghibli universe, we can only doubly appreciate the initiative! When the genius of the Studson Studio model maker meets the world of director Hayao, the result is inevitably exceptional and worth a look.

Known for its very realistic miniatures and dioramas, Studson Studio has decided to put in the spotlight, the dreamlike universe of Ghibli. In a series of videos (see below), he shares the scope of his work by reproducing cartoon backgrounds. But the artist realizes them with particular materials because they are plastic and cardboard waste. He describes, with a touch of humor, each step of the design, including the choice of waste and how he integrates them. Once the assemblies are finalized, he paints structures measuring up to 50 cm in height and some weighing more than 2 kg.

A follower of Japanese culture, the creative behind Studson Studio started model making with plastic reproductions of Gundam, a Japanese sci-fi character. He has now abandoned plastic and promotes the recycling of waste to make his miniatures.
