Photographer Birgitta Zoutman convinced her mother to come her studio for a photo shoot and was amazed at how her gray hair looks amazing. This marked the beginning of her project “Ladies of Grey” on women with gray hair.

Birgitta asked one of her models why she finally decided to accept her gray hair, and she replied: “I began to turn gray at the age of twenty and immediately began to dye my hair. I believed in a society that literally shouted that gray hair represents old age, but I was only twenty years old! My husband did not like my dyed hair, but I continued to do so. In 2018, I went to Switzerland to visit my niece. We talked about aging, accepting who you are, not what others think. And then I decided that I was going to let my natural color shine and that was my best decision! ”
