Redmer Hoekstra is a 37-year-old professional Dutch illustrator who received a diploma from the Art Academy in Zwolle in 2009. Most of all he is fascinated by the functioning of things that are traced in the drawings. For example, he freely goes into the devices and objects, and then freely fills their inner space. Often this gives them a completely different mood or meaning.
“I always liked alienation, I loved to dream and dream,” writes Redmer Hoekstra. “In my childhood, I had different theories about how the world works. At the academy, I was able to rediscover them and transfer them to my drawings.”
“Often I find inspiration when I am on the train or on the road, crossing landscapes when my mind discovers new connections between things I see and find. The philosophical view of the world and themselves. Who am I? What is my reality and how do I define how it looks? ”, Says the artist about his sources of inspiration.

To liven up his pencil and ink drawings, Hoekstra uses shading and light. He tries to make them as realistic as possible. This is a time-consuming technique.
