Dane Shitagi hails from Honolulu, Hawaii. He dreamed about the profession of a photographer from a young age, he began to take pictures seriously when he was 15 years old. In 1996 he moved to New York, where he experienced the influence of the multinational spirit of the city. The photographer is inspired by the sights and energy of the city. And he takes pictures of elegant and sophisticated dancers – ballet fairies. The “Ballerina” project comes out in the form of a book with about 170 black and white and color photographs of more than 50 famous ballerinas, captured in unexpected urban and natural locations. The pictures were taken not only in New York, but also in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Buenos Aires, London, Rome, and Paris.
